The Ijebu Igbo Council of Obas has held a key security meeting with the Police Area Command to promote peace and safety in the community.
The meeting took place on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Orimolusi Palace in Ijebu Igbo. It was led by the Orimolusi of Ijebu Igbo, His Royal Majesty, Alayeluwa Oba Lawrence Jaiyeoba Adebajo Ojuromi VI.
The purpose of the meeting was to officially welcome the newly posted Area Commander, ACP Bukoye Oyegbemi, and to discuss ongoing security issues affecting the town. The leaders also looked into disputes within the community and ways to maintain peace and stability.

Several traditional rulers attended the meeting, including His Royal Highness, Alayeluwa Oba Dr. Mufutau Adesesan Yusuf, Sopen Lukale of Oke Sopen,His Royal Highness, Oba Dr. Abdulrasheed Abayomi Banjo PhD, Olokine of Ojowo, His Royal Highness, Oba Ibitoye Solaja, Keegbo of Atikori, His Royal Highness, Oba Stephen Adeleke Adekoya, Bejeroku of Oke Agbo, His Royal Highness, Oba Adewale Aderemi Ogunye, Abijaparako of Japara, His Royal Highness, Oba Tajudeen Kolawole Omotayo, Onimope of Imope, His Royal Highness, Oba Prof. Julius Adeniyi Ogunfowora, Alaparaki of Aparaki among others.
After discussions, both the traditional rulers and the police agreed on practical steps to improve security and resolve misunderstandings within the community. Community leaders, known as Olorituns, were also present and promised to support efforts aimed at peaceful coexistence among residents, regardless of religion or background.

Speaking at the meeting, ACP Oyegbemi thanked the royal fathers for their leadership and commitment to security.
He assured residents that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to protect lives and property. He also urged the public to share useful information with the police and remain vigilant.
In their closing remarks, the royal fathers called for unity, respect, and cooperation among residents. They encouraged everyone to obey the law and work together to keep Ijebu Igbo peaceful and secure.
The meeting ended with a strong commitment from both traditional leaders and security agencies to maintain lasting peace in the community.
