It has been 34 days since armed suspected Fulani terrorists attacked a church in Eda Oniyo, Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State, killing a guest pastor and abducting 15 worshippers, including young children aged 2, 4 and 7.
According to family members, the pastor, who had travelled from Osun State to minister at the church, was shot dead while preaching during the attack.
The kidnappers reportedly took away 15 people, including women and children. Despite the families raising and paying a ransom of N11 million, along with bags of rice and other items demanded by the abductors, none of the victims has been released.
The abductors are now said to be demanding an additional N50 million for the release of the captives, an amount the affected families say they cannot afford.
Relatives of the victims are appealing to Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), security agencies, and well-meaning Nigerians to intervene and help secure the safe release of their loved ones.
Pictures of some of the kidnapped children have been shared by the families as they continue to seek urgent assistance and pray for the victims’ safe return.
