African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has reiterated calls for the arrest and prosecution of individuals responsible for the shootings at the Lekki Toll Gate during the 2020 EndSARS protests.
In a statement posted on X to mark the sixth anniversary of the October 20 incident, Sowore questioned why victims and their families have yet to receive justice.”Where are the killers?
Who ordered the shootings at LekkiTolGate? Who has been prosecuted? Why are the victims still waiting for justice?” Sowore wrote.
The activist called for comprehensive investigations into the roles played by high-ranking officials, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as well as military and police commanders on duty during the event.
He also urged authorities to investigate long-standing claims regarding the removal of surveillance cameras at the toll plaza prior to the incident.
Sowore noted that the EndSARS movement extended beyond calls to disband the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, framing it as a broader public protest against systemic police brutality, extortion, and extrajudicial killings.
He pledged that if elected president in 2027, his administration would reopen the investigation, establish the full chain of command, and prosecute anyone found culpable regardless of their political connections or official status.
