The traditional ruler of llawe-Ekiti, His Royal Majesty Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, Afuntade I, the Alawe of llawe Ekiti has passed away, plunging the Ekiti community into mourning.
Oba Alabi, who ascended the throne in April 2012 following the death of his predecessor, Oba Joseph Ademileka, d!ed after a reign marked by efforts to promote growth and unity in the kingdom.
Before his coronation, the monarch enjoyed a distinguished career as a diplomat, serving in various Nigerian embassies and high commissions across the world.
In 2019, he was appointed Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, a role that further highlighted his influence within the state’s traditional institution.
Tributes have begun pouring in for the late Alawe, with residents and well-wishers describing him as a unifying figure whose contributions to llawe-Ekiti will not be forgotten.
