The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has reportedly arrested several women alleged to be wives and informants of suspected kidnappers and bandits operating within the state.
According to a statement attributed to the Commander of the Ondo Amotekun Corps, the women were apprehended alongside other suspected criminals who were allegedly fleeing ongoing military operations against insurgency and banditry in northern Nigeria.
The commander stated that intelligence reports indicated that the suspects were relocating to forest reserves in Ondo State, where they were allegedly invited by their husbands, relatives, and associates already residing in forested areas and communities across Ondo State and other parts of the South-West region.
He further disclosed that the Amotekun Corps has commenced the profiling of the arrested women and their children as part of ongoing investigations to determine their identities and possible links to criminal activities.
According to the commander, arrangements are being made to return the suspects to their respective states of origin in collaboration with leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association and Hausa community leaders.
The development comes amid renewed efforts by security agencies to combat kidnapping, banditry, and other security threats in Ondo State and the wider South-West region.
Authorities have assured residents that proactive measures are being taken to safeguard lives and property while investigations into the matter continue.
