The Ogun State Government has extended its work palliative measures for eligible public and civil servants, with Governor Dapo Abiodun approving the continuation of the one-day-off-duty arrangement and a N10,000 monthly transport allowance for an additional three months.
The approval, which covers the period from July to September 2026, is part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to cushion the effects of rising transportation costs on workers while encouraging efficient service delivery across the state.
Governor Abiodun had earlier introduced the palliative measures for April to June 2026 following the increase in the pump price of petrol. The latest extension reflects the government’s continued commitment to supporting workers amid prevailing economic challenges.
According to the state government, the one-day-off-duty concession will not apply to officers on shift duties or personnel providing essential services. Those exempted include medical personnel, judicial service workers, teaching and non-teaching staff in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, security personnel, political office holders, accounting officers, directors, and other officers receiving Special Responsibility Allowances due to the nature of their duties, which require their physical presence at work.
In a circular issued by the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Iskeel Olanrewaju Saka, mni, eligible workers were encouraged to make effective use of the palliative while ensuring that service delivery remains uninterrupted and efficient.
The Ogun State Government reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of its workforce, stating that it will continue to introduce policies aimed at improving workers’ well-being, boosting productivity, and reducing the economic burden on public servants.
