The Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo, Alhaji High Chief Abiodun Ismail Olawale Lawal Abinugbola, today convened youth leaders from all five quarters Oke Sopen, Ojowo, Oke Agbo, Atikori, Japara to discuss strategies for strengthening youth participation in local development.
At his office meeting today, the Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo, Alhaji Chief Lawal Olawale Abinugbola stressed the need to integrate all youth quarters’ associations into a unified body.
High Chief Olawale Lawal Abinugbola noted that while some quarters are active, others, such as Japara, remain largely non-functional, hindering cohesive youth representation.
The Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo further emphasized that all youth bodies must maintain direct relationships with their respective Kabiyesi.
Some community youth bodies currently operating independently due to past legal disputes surrounding the throne were specifically highlighted.

To ensure proper governance, the Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo, Alhaji Chief Olawale Lawal Abinugbola directed each youth body to appoint an interim executive of no more than five members.
These interim leaders are tasked with drafting a constitution and organizing transparent elections within six months.
Each Kabiyesi will also nominate a youthful representative to participate in the interim Ijebu Igbo Youth Development Association (IIYDA).
The Oluomo of Ijebu Igbo, High Chief Abinugbola described these steps as critical to fostering unity, accountability and active youth involvement in the town’s development agenda.
