The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into mourning following reports that veteran Nollywood actor, dramatist, and scholar Kola Oyewo has passed away at the age of 80.
Chief Kola Oyewo, a respected figure in Nigeria’s theatre and film industry, was widely celebrated for his remarkable contributions to Yoruba theatre, Nollywood, and academic scholarship. Throughout his career, he featured in several acclaimed productions and became a household name through his outstanding performances on stage and screen.
Known for his iconic role as Odewale in “The Gods Are Not to Blame,” and Oba lapite in Saworide movie, the veteran actor dedicated over five decades to promoting Nigerian culture and storytelling. Beyond acting, he also served as a lecturer and mentor to many young talents in the creative industry.
