Former House of Representatives member, Rt. Hon. Adekoya Adesegun Abdel-Majid, popularly known as Attacker, has officially abandoned his senatorial ambition to contest once again for the House of Representatives seat representing Ijebu North, Ijebu East, and Ogun Waterside Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decision, announced on Friday through a statement released by his media directorate, followed what was described as “overwhelming calls” from constituents, party leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups, women associations, and stakeholders across the three local government areas.
According to the statement, Attacker chose to return to the lower chamber of the National Assembly in response to growing appeals from the grassroots, whom he said believe his experience and track record are needed once again in the constituency.
Rt. Hon. Adekoya represented the federal constituency in the House of Representatives from 2015 to 2023, a period during which he gained popularity for several infrastructural projects and empowerment initiatives spread across the constituency.
Some of the projects credited to him during his tenure include the Vintage Orimolusi Palace in Ijebu-Igbo, Ago-Iwoye City Stadium, Imusin-Ajina Shopping Centre, International Infertility and Maternity Hospital Annex in Ago-Iwoye, Senator Prince Buruji Kashamu Skill Acquisition Centre in Ijebu-Igbo, Oni Ultra Modern Jetty in Ogun Waterside, Oke-Agbo Multipurpose Centre, and the Demiji Farmers Camp in Ibiade.
The statement described him as a leader known for “projects over promises,” noting that no year passed during his eight-year tenure without visible development projects and empowerment programs reaching the grassroots.
Speaking on his decision, Attacker said his return to the House of Representatives race was inspired by the direct appeal of the people.
“I have listened to my people. I have heard their call. I chose to drop the senatorial ambition because the House of Representatives is where I can serve you directly and deliver the most immediate results for Ijebu North, Ijebu East, and Ogun Waterside. We started something together, and it is time to finish it and do more,” he stated.
The formal pick-up of the nomination form signals the beginning of what his campaign team described as a people-oriented movement built on experience, accountability, and visible performance.
Political observers believe his return to the race could reshape the political landscape within the constituency as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
